By the zebra crossing in Railway Lane, just opposite the clock in Jubilee Gardens, is Burnsfield House.
Burnsfield House is a late 18th century cottage, which was converted to 2 storeys in the 19th century. Evidence of this work can clearly be seen on the front and sidewalls of the building.
It is a Grade II Listed building.

Taking a digital tour of Chatteris?
If you’re taking a Digital Tour of Chatteris, continue along Railway Lane.
On the way, just past Hereward Court, you’ll see Horsegate Gardens on the right. The small opening between the buildings opposite is Coach House Court. These roads are reminders of the Horse and Gate public house which was originally in the High Street but moved to the back of its plot in Railway Lane. It was the departure point of “The Day” coach, which departed for London at 9am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and returned to Wisbech via March at 6pm on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays.
By now you should be able to see The King Edward Centre, which is an old school surrounded by black railings. That is our next stop on the tour.
