Chatteris Past, Present & Future is currently running a project to map trees within the town that are protected by Tree Protection Orders (TPOs).
So far, we have been unable to find approximately half of the trees for which Fenland District Council has TPOs. The council records seem to be out of date, and we fear that many of these trees will have been lost. Our aim is to map the trees, prevent further trees from being lost, help the council to update their records and – ultimately – make recommendations on which unprotected trees may be good candidates for TPOs.
We have volunteers prepared to help with mapping, but we have no co-ordinator for this project. If you would like to volunteer for this position, please email ChatterisPPF@gmail.com.
